FAQ

FAQ – April 2025

Is the call only for Danish applicants?

No, the call is open to all senior researchers including international researchers located in Europe including the UK.

Can researchers with existing affiliation to The Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center Apply?

No. By “existing” we mean researchers who are already a functioning PI, CO-PI or affiliated to any of CORCs satellite institutions and universities. We welcome collaborations with the CORC PIs, but funding can only be allocated to those who meet the eligibility criteria. This means PIs and CO-PIs employed by a CORC satellite institution and/or those located outside of Europe are not eligible for this call.

What level of Technology Readiness Level (TRL) should the proposal be at?

The desired TRL is between 1 and 6.

Must international partners be included in the proposal?

We encourage national and international interdisciplinary collaboration, but it is not required.

Can one applicant submit several applications?

As a main PI, you may submit one application per call. However, you may participate as co-PI on multiple applications.

Will postdoc and young scientist applications be accepted?

No, this call is for tenure or tenure tracked researchers.

Should budget details be provided in the pre-proposal?

No, if invited to submit a full proposal, budget specifics will be requested.

Can PhD, Postdoc, and applicant salaries be included into the budget?

Yes, PhD, Postdoc and applicant salaries can be included into the budget.

Are institutional overheads/bench fees allowed to be part of budget?

A project supplement, which includes a bench fee (standard lab access and consumables), as well as administrative and technical support, which can amount to up to 312,741 DKK/full-time equivalent (FTE)/year, is eligible. This is a set fee which is driven by the number of FTEs of PhD students and postdocs. It is expected that the administering institution provides support for these functions.

If invited for full proposal, can the budget summary be presented in a different currency?

No, the budget must be presented in Danish kroner (DKK), as the funding will also be in DKK.
